Ask your Elder what they remember about the items in this picture. What do they remember about milk delivery, potato mashers, lemonade and rolling pins
According to a Mayo Clinic article, which you can read here:
Laughter and humor can ease tension, improve your immune system, improve your mood, increase oxygen intake, release endorphins and relieve pain. This is a benefit both you as caregiver and your elder.
Find something fun to do every day. Play music while you are caregiving. I’ve found Big Band music improves the atmosphere especially during dinner. It sparks stories of dances they attended and fond memories. Sometimes I dance, which my dad finds hilarious because I can’t dance but I have fun trying.
What makes you laugh?
Humor is a proven stress reliever. So keep laughing and enjoy this page dedicated to humor and “get-away from it all” photos. Enjoy!
