I worked as an RN for over 25 years with some time out to have babies. My experiences include stints as a hospital nurse, a hospital auditor and an RN Case Manager. I also owned my own business (a bed and breakfast) for a few years. My parents were a big help to us during my working years, providing babysitting, taxi service for our active kids and financial help with their educations.
They were generous with their time, resources and love. I am privileged to help them now that they are both in their 90’s. We began living with them in 2009, so we have racked up eight-plus years of caregiving experience.
I am sharing this blog as a daughter, not as a nurse. I’m a retired RN so anything I say is in no way intended to be taken as medical advice. I do hope my experiences will be of help to those walking a similar journey. It is not always an easy one, no matter how much you love your elder(s). I hope we can encourage each other.
